Background:  I have an Android, and someone using an iPhone periodically sends me texts with images (phone cam pics).  From her end (the iPhone sending end), it seems like she is just sending a text, then inserting an image, then adding more text.  From my end (the Android receiving end), it looks like a text with a subject line in angle brackets, then a slide show, and the text appears not only in the message (before launching the slide show) but also as slides in the slide show.
Problem:  None of that gets saved with Txtract.  Txtract (I can't find an About screen, but it's whatever version would have been downloaded within the past couple of days) backs up the text messages before and after the one with the "slideshow," but it omits that one.
Can this be fixed, either on your (Brilaps) end or mine?

hi, i already replied to you via email - and pasting my email here as well...

The images are already on the SD card and they are referred to within the HTML with relative paths. When you open the file in Gmail, <img src="./2727/someimage.jpg" /> will point to an address inaccessible in your browser. You will still be able to read the Text messages, and see placeholders for the images though.

Here is what you can do;
- Connect your Droid to your computer via the USB cable.
- It will probably ask you something about Mounting, or directly show the microSD card in (My Computer, or Finder etc)
- Click on that drive. You'll see a "download" directory. Go in there, and you'll see "txtract" directory. If you double click the  HTML file in there, all should display nicely.

You might have replied to the last post, but I'm the OP and have received no email from you.

No, the images are not saved on the SD card.  I've been all through the card, both with an Android file system manager and mounting the card on my PC.  I have tried to extract the messages individually or as part of "extract all;" I have tried to extract MMS messages specifically (where the program reports that the operation fails); all have the same result.  The images embedded in or attached to the texts--sorry, I don't really understand how images fly along with SMS--are not saved with the current version of Txtract.

Hi Joseph,

We had another report on the problem and troubleshooting the problem.

Can you please tell us what phone are you using?  And do you see a directory  "download/txtract" on your microSD card.

We'll also send the development/debug version of Txtract to a few users experiencing this problem to identify and hopefully solve the issue. If you'd like to give us a hand trouble shooting, please shoot us an email  code@brilaps ....

cem

ps: i personally use the application i developed, and of course it's working flawlessly for me. i wished i could come across those problems before anyone else Smiley

HTC Evo, with 8Gb micro SD card.  Yes, that directory is there on the card.

Hi all,

We identified one of the issues causing the MMS issue. Fix is coming soon.

You may want to try to extract the MMS messages from the "MENU" instead of the "context menu via long press" .  Give that a try for now.
